Rome and Assisi

July 14-24

Did the destinations meet your expectations?:  Italy was fantastic!!!  Assisi was absolutely beautiful!

What was your favorite part of the trip?: Assisi!!!  Hands down it was the best.  Sally did connect us with a woman named Anne Robichard who gave tours in Assisi.  She couldn't meet with us, but connected us with a gentleman named Marco.  He was heaven sent and I would recommend him to anyone going to Assisi.  He really knew the town and its history so well...he grew up there!  Our hotel was fabulous too.  I have to say everything about our stay in Assisi was wonderful...except too short.

Tell us more!: Rome was good too, but it was such a change from being out in the country and then come into the city.  The hotel was wonderful...a real treat for us.  I loved its location too.  Our guide for the Sistine Chapel tour was a bit chatty, but we survived.  We did have difficulty connecting with our evening tour of the Colisseum...they didn't put up any flag or sign to show themselves.  Eventually we found them.  Tricky!!!

We did tons of walking, but it's the best way to see every thing.  We really saw everything we wanted to see.  I especially loved climbing to the top of St. Peter's!

And we did squeeze in a day trip bus tour to Capri and were very glad to get out of the city of Rome and see the beauty of Capri.  It was definitely doable.

Amsterdam to Budapest  September 8-24

Did the destinations meet your expectations?: I Learned history and culture in addition to seeing the beauty of the city.

What was your favorite part of the trip?: There were too many memorable moments to single out a favorite.  I felt like a queen for 14 days.

Tell us more! : Sailing into Budapest, Hungary was like cruising into a fairy tale book.

St Lucia Escape

While you and Jerry are playing phone tag, I must hasten to thank you for arranging the "speed chair" for Jerry; I could hardly keep up with his Indian handler through the endless hallways; he even escorted us on the Air Train.

Your every thoughtful arrangement made the trip smooth and trouble-free.

Marcia is beautiful and so accommodating; we had a wonderfully relaxing time at Marigot Bay

We both think you're priceless!

Happy New Year,

Dotty and Jerry

Laura Kauffman has recommended your work as Owner at Vagabond Tour and Travel.

Dear Sally,
I've written this recommendation of your work to share with other LinkedIn users.

Details of the Recommendation: "I had the pleasure of getting to know Sally while I was at Baker High School as both a parent and community member with the Rotary Club. I found out about Sally's experience in the travel industry and about her travel club, Vagabond. She encouraged me to contact her if I was ever interested in booking a vacation. I had never been on a cruise before and so I contacted her about it. It was the BEST experience!! Sally knew all the "insider tips" - getting my cabin with a balcony, getting my cabin in the middle of the ship to avoid any movement issues with the boat, etc. She took care of everything...and, met me before my vacation began to go over things and answer any questions I had. Her attention to detail was amazing! My lack of experience in travelling would have prohibited me from having the amazing cruise experience I had! I will be contacting Sally again to help me book my next vacation and, you should too!"

Iberostar Quetzal... CANCUN

Hi Sally,

We had a GREAT trip to Cancun! Thanks for the recommendations.

The Iberostar Quetzal and adjacent Toucan are very nice. Super clean and everyone we met was friendly and helpful.  The food was "pretty good" and the variety was amazing. The Steakhouse and Gondola (Italian) were the best restaurants and the La Hacienda (Mexican) was the worst - which we thought interesting since we were in mexico! The pools were excellent and the beach was fantastic.  We talked to a number of other travellers and everyone spoke highly of the Iberostar.

We did the Alltournative tour to Tulum and Jungle Maya - excellent. Our guide spoke english, spanish and french.

Had an very good mexican meal at Jungle Maya as part of the excursion. It included 3 ziplines, rappelling into a cenote, a snorkle trip in a dark cenote, lunch and a wild ride through the jungle in an old army vehicle.

We also did the snorkle trip to Cozumel - I booked it through the dive shop at the Iberostar resort.  It was a little long getting there - we left hotel at 9, taxi to Playa del Carmen, Ferry ride to Coz, boat ride to Iberostar resort on Coz where we ate lunch and got gear - it was noon by then. We snorkled on 2 different reefs and saw sea turtles, nurse shark, lots of fish including a beracuda. Ryan's ability to speak spanish was quite helpful and the locals appreciated it. We went back to Coz, ate, changed and then they brought a giagantic cooler full of ice and Dos Equix beer for the ride back to the ferry. We got back to our room about 7:00pm so it was a full day!

We were surprised how little beach there was at Cozumel and how few people seemed to be at the resort.  Our resort was comfortably busy - not too many people but enough to keep the boys happy.

Thanks again and if you need anyone to check out the Iberostar closer to Cancun, Kelley and I are available!
